Irving Chernev's "Winning Chess Traps" was the first chess book I ever read some 60 years ago. Chernev didn't give the names of the players or the events, so I've decided to identify as many of the games as I can. This won't be possible in all cases. Some of the traps are analysis fragments, not actual games, and some of the games aren't in the.   You get explanation of the tactics here (good point). 2. Far fewer problems (bad point). 3. His most simple problems to solve - good if you are a beginner or just above. If you are well beyond the beginning stage get his "One Thousand and One Winning Chess Sacrifices and Combinations", or "Winning Chess Traps for Juniors"/5(3).

Award-winning author Graham Burgess has written 25 chess books, ranging from general guides to works on specific openings. He is a FIDE Master and a former champion of the Danish region of Funen. Snyder takes his "Chess for Everyone" book a step further by covering sixty-four additional opening traps.

This is trap # 23 in Bruce Pandolfini's excellent book, "Chess Openings: Traps and Zaps." (Vol. I, page # ) *** (A very similar trap is # 46, in "Winning Chess Traps," by Irving Chernev. This trap features the exact same mating pattern.) *** I highly recommend Bruce's book. Winning chess Traps for juniors is a sound alternative to this book but it doesn't have as many traps compared to this book, but it is better in analysis and should be looked upon. If you would like to contact me about this book or would like to have a video review of the book or anything else, i will be happy to respond to your requests in /5(44).
